Position Overview

The Chief Marketing Officer blends marketing strategy and creative vision with demonstrated leadership to help elevate the business and support the brand's rapid growth. This role will report directly to the CEO and is responsible for driving the company’s eComm and Wholesale growth strategy and execution of all elements of the marketing function, including digital, social media, influencer, brand creative, brand content, product marketing, and product positioning, campaigns, integrated marketing, paid media, events, public relations, and strategic corporate communications.  Additionally, the CMO directs and coordinates the company's marketing function and departmental goals, objectives, and operating procedures for the company. The CMO will be entrepreneurial, data-driven, resourceful, and keenly focused on seeking new growth opportunities while optimizing innovation, cross-functional employee empowerment, and a culture of engagement and accountability. In addition, the CMO will apply out-of-the-box thinking, enabling the company to meet and exceed revenue and profit goals, implement the marketing and communications strategy, and manage agency partners and the marketing team to execute strategy and meet revenue and profit goals. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage, and communicate a clear and cohesive marketing plan and budget supporting all business verticals to meet revenue and brand health goals.
  • Conceptualize and execute integrated campaigns including web, email, social, affiliate, print, promotions, event, PR, and non-traditional communications techniques. 
  • Align communication and strategy between DTC and Wholesale to build compelling consumer communication campaigns and increase conversions, new customer acquisition, and retention.
  • Build a strategic product roadmap and define a go-to-market strategy, feature + benefit language, and value proposition.
  • Determine and evolve our brand positioning in the marketplace, clearly defining the competitive differentiators for offerings tailored to different customer segments.
  • Manage and evaluate agency and business contracts to achieve targeted results.
  • Analyze media demographics, manage media placements and promotions, negotiate rates, and monitor effectiveness via survey tools
  • Partner with the Wholesale team and retailers in developing and executing in-store promotional programs. 
  • Partner with the Creative team to develop assets for use across marketing initiatives.
  • Work closely with Company leadership to define the KPIs required to ensure organizational success, and align reporting, training, and incentive programs with these priorities.
  • Coach, mentor, and raise the team’s ability to deliver and exceed expectations while creating opportunities for succession talent.
  • Create a working environment encouraging sustainable productivity, improvement, innovation, and personal growth. 
  • Ensure the right people are in place to drive business results and compensation and incentive programs align with business and sales objectives.


Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Proven track record in growth-stage startups with strong communities across marketing, demand generation, and product marketing (CPG experience preferred)
  • Ability to work effectively on a cross-functional team with direct communication, strong emotional intelligence, and respect
  • Strong portfolio management skills, including adeptly organizing numerous projects simultaneously and a track record of consistently meeting critical deadlines and delivering exceptional results
  • Strong ability to synthesize data into actionable insights
